I wanted to convey the feeling of unity and organic lines, while still staying true to the formal identity that is DA. Both characters are divisions of 3 columns/rows and the curve points are reminiscent of the time period, ie: "Going Green" as one could identify the hint of greenery shapes throughout.

I believe I hit all the major themes laid out by the DA mods: bold, angles, simple geometry, retro, balance and simplicity, while maintaining a fresh and unique approach to this challenge. The symmetry between both characters allows for the viewer to focus on the image while gently revealing the subtle difference between the two.

The text below is a variation of the Eurostile Bold font, where I shortened the kerning between each letter and removed part of both "T's" for added identity. The weight adds proper balance to the main logo if needed.

And as you can see, the complete image conforms nicely to the square enclosure of a 50x50 avatar.
